The WIP Supervisor is responsible for secondary manufacturing operations such as deburring, polishing, cleaning and packaging.  A WIP Supervisor cleans blasting machines, passivation tanks and the surrounding areas on a daily basis and works closely with other team members to continue with production to keep parts moving to the next process until the job is complete and shipped. You are a highly organized and highly adaptable individual, who will be expected to deal with constantly evolving challenges, serving as a source of order and direction to his/her team under stressful circumstances. You must be a capable multi tasker who can coordinate the efforts of multiple departments towards the completion of a single end-goal.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate a high level of hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity when performing finishing operations such as filing, deburring, abrasive-blasting, parts cleaning, handling and packaging.  This must be accomplished without scratches, blemishes or other imperfections, even when visible only under magnification.
  • Pays close attention to the cleanliness of the equipment, workbench, tools, accessories and surrounding areas and strives to maintain these in the condition required.
  • Problem solving skills – works with Assembly Department Lead to make sure parts ‘fit’.
  • Insure that parts are efficiently and accurately inspected, deburred, properly tagged and moved to the next operation.
  • Strives to understand the operation and machining capabilities of the equipment such as sand blasting machines, rotary tumblers, ultrasonic cleaners, manual lathe machines, drill presses and other finishing operations machines related.
  • Alerts Director of Operations and QA Manager of any deficiencies with products.
  • Understands how to use basic measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers and gage pins
  • Maintains a high level of attention regarding the visual quality of a finished product and is able to recognize an out of tolerance surface finish, burrs and other machining defects.
  • Ability to organize/schedule and manage teams of WIP technicians.

Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma/GED and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks to completion
  • Enjoy working in a team environment to get the larger job done.
  • Ability to lead, train, schedule & motivate team of manufacturing assistants
  • Ability to learn multiple aspects of the machining business.
  • Patience to work especially with small parts and high volume
  • Ability to follow specific instructions at all times
  • Strong commitment to detail and error-free performance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Have a mechanical aptitude (specific to manufacturing floor employees)
  • Extremely intuitive with problem solving and resolutions
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi task
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal skills
